November 2019 Update

 

November saw some exciting developments for Selo Fit Retreats. Following the opening of Selo Fit fitness centre within the Resort earlier this year, we have created a range of facilities/spaces for fitness professionals to host their own Selo Fit Retreats, whether it be yoga, wellness, fitness or corporate retreats.

Under the guidance of Executive Chef Anton the Aura team have been working hard on a new farm to table menu. We are proud to say our food supply is more locally and sustainably sourced than ever before. There will be an increase in health dining options, with items such as the special salad mix made from Lombok Farm Microgreens.

In other news, the recent launch of the Luxury Surf Villas selling from $190,000 with developer financing has made a promising start. We plan to begin construction on stage one early next year. Enquire here if interested to be part of the first stage. Very positively also the direct road access to the beach is nearly complete, which will mean dual access for the Resort and guests now will be able to get to the beach, surf and soon to be opened beach club in less than 7 minutes. We believe this will re-rate the value of all the villas within the Resort.

SELO FIT

Today’s healthy-minded traveler seeks a quality fitness experience, and Selo Fit delivers the full package.  Selong Selo’s newly launched Selo Fit gym makes staying fit and feeling healthy even more enjoyable in our fully air-conditioned and contemporary fitness centre.  Featuring state-of-the-art cardio and resistance equipment, free weights and benches – as well as acres of natural unspoilt landscapes surrounding the resort, guests will leave workouts feeling deeply satisfied.

In addition to the traditional gym set-up, workout warriors can look forward to the roof top terrace space that provides a functional area for group exercises, ideal for hosting training camps, yoga classes and HIIT workouts.  Working up a sweat got a whole lot more beautiful in this open-aired environment.

Amenities available at SeloFit include towels, wifi and a water fountain.

 


 

 

Selo Fit Retreats

Wellness goes beyond just looking good and Selo Fit’s annual retreat programs aim to create experiences that will leave visitors enriched with a deeper understanding of living in physical, mental and emotional harmony.

As a collective, we now have complimenting wellness elements such as a two-story fitness centre, yoga lawn, tennis & basketball court (coming Q1 2020), spa therapies, and healthy eating, along with other cultural and active outdoor experiences such as the world class surfing and diving. 

We are collaborating with international expert facilitators to bring not only goal-setting enthusiasts a new challenge, but also to bring families together in a unique ‘off-the-beaten-track’ escape to reconnect with one another in a nurturing (and tech-free) environment.

NEW FARM TO TABLE DINING

December marks a milestone in our culinary department as we remove all mass-processed items from our menu.  This coincides with the updated breakfast menu serving a broader range of healthier options include superfoods, broths & salads, all with an increase in fresh seafood protein.  For those who love Asian and local food, you will be slurping some delicious breakfast bowls soon!

Frozen French fries have been replaced with fresh & handcut. Our honey is organic and locally produced, branded honey removed. Likewise for all ketchup, chili sauces, stock cubes and other flavour enhancers as well as reducing our saturated fats on the menu and where possible, replacing with healthy oils. Aura is now part of the #SameDayFish programme, bringing only sustainably caught, meticulously taken care off and extremely fresh & whole seafood. We can trace our seafood source only as far as Sumbawa where the ocean dictates our menus, not vice versa.

We have developed our own special salad mix with Lombok Farm Microgreens unique across all menus, adding that unique flavour and nutrition to every dish we serve. Having conducted field trips in October – we are also working closely with organic farmers in Sembalun to develop crops exclusively for our menus – helping the struggling farming community after the tragic 2018 earthquakes – this is an addition to our current Chef’s garden which supplies us with herbs and fresh chicken eggs from the pen.

Culinary Training Programme at Aura is in its second month, with currently five young students from a local school learning skills in the kitchen and bar. As we develop this program further, we hope to pave the way to providing the best possible on the job training to the local community and equip them with the necessary skills for successful progression.

Our team is currently busy researching & developing ideas to serve more healthy and creative dishes, so stay tuned for updates in the coming months as we embrace our sustainability ethos and get closer to our target of 90% Indonesian archipelago produce by Q1 2020.

Introducing our Executive Chef

Chef Anton Ventslav was born in Ukraine and has travelled the world extensively with an International Culinary Arts (FdA) from University of West London, Chef Anton has honed his skills in French, British and Antipodean fine dining kitchens of London and Australia – before moving to Bali in 2012.

Since then he has conceptualised a number of kitchens in several resorts in Indonesia and beyond. With a strong passion for local and sustainable top-quality ingredients, mentoring local teams and combining unusual flavours with classic and modern techniques Executive Chef Anton is redefining the art of culinary.


 

 

EXPLORE LOMBOK

November was fast and furious with a heavy focus on expanding the activities offered at the resort.  Mount Rinjani continues to be a force to be reckoned with for the athlete and extreme adventurist.

Diving in Kuta and in the north Gilli Islands never cease to amaze.  For experienced divers, the Kuta and Belongas Bay areas are clear winners due to the seasonal marine life, such as hammerhead sharks and manta rays.  The north islands of Gilli Meno, Gilli Air and Gilli Trawangan offer calm waters, turtles, mantis shrimp, and thousands of colourful fish.  For those interested in learning about pearl farming, Autore Pearl Farm offers an interactive tour where you can see how they harvest pearls from Gilli Island oysters

For an unforgettable family adventure, the south Gilli islands are considered a secret oasis for snorkelling.  The calm waters, beautiful living coral and millions of fish give you the impression you are swimming in an aquarium.  A beautiful lunch on a tiny island will leave you feeling as if you are in a fairy tale. For another magical family experience, head up to Lombok Wildlife Park in North Lombok. Interact with animals in their natural habitat, bathe an elephant or hang out with an orangutan. Home to 195 animals and 50 different species Lombok Wildlife park is committed to animal welfare and conservation. A visit to the park will leave you with forever memories.

For thrill-seekers there is a myriad of water and wind sports.  From surfing the epic breaks of Desert point and Mawi, to kiteboarding in the Ekas area of east Lombok, or spearfishing in crystal clear waters, it’s an athlete’s paradise. Whether you’re paragliding in the afternoon over azure colored waters, paddle boarding your way into the sunset or dirt biking through the rugged jungle, Lombok is the new Indonesian playground for your outdoor adventures.

 


 

 

INTRODUCING VILLA DI AWAN

Villa Di Awan (9E) is a luxury two bedroom open plan home with a two-story spacious design. Perched at the top of the resort you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from the sunken outdoor seating area, sunlounger or infinity pool.

The large living area stretches across the villa, with end-to-end glass frontage and sliding doors. The living area includes a comfortable sofa, coffee table and television. Dividing the room is a large wooden dining table, the open plan kitchen is fully equipped for you to whip up a culinary feast. There is a powder room adjacent to the living area for you to freshen up.

Complete with two bedrooms, with sliding glass doors that open directly to the deck and pool. The master bedroom comprises a king-size bed and has a walk through vanity/dressing area, this leads to the en-suite which features an outdoor bath. The guest bedroom is perfect for children or two adults, with a double bed splitting into twins and en-suite bathroom.

Whatsmore there is a cosy snug room with an additional powder room located on the lower floor which is ideal for extra guests with a sofa bed.

Christmas Eve
Complimentary festive treats and mulled wine with carol singers and a special visitor from the North Pole HO HO HO, enjoy Aura Lounge & Bar à la carte cuisine for your evening dining.

Christmas Day
Festive roast lunch with all the trimmings, followed by a Sasak themed festive BBQ in the evening with welcome canapes and iced mulled wine. There will be a host of entertainment for the evening including Indonesian musicians with Gamelan and dancers, live acoustic sounds of Dika and a visit from Santa.

New Years Eve
Join us for a lit-up spectacle to usher in 2020; complimentary welcome canapes and aperitifs. Indulge in our five course tasting menu by Executive Chef Anton and his culinary team; accompanied by a bevy of entertainment throughout the evening; culminating in a spectacular midnight finale.

New Years Day
Recovery brunch is just that and more; join us for the first day of the new year; complete with “recovery” drinks and once again accompanied by live music from Dika and his band.
